It is with a heavy heart that I share this remembrance of longtime member and friend Bob Bordwine.
I will remember Bob particularly fondly, as he was the first Sooner Model A Club member that I met in person. He stopped by my now-late grandfather’s house to help me get his car running after it sat for nearly 15 years.
He and my grandfather had a lot in common — both went by Bob, both were retired Lieutenant Col...Read Full Post »

Dear Members --
For those who weren't able to attend our January or February Club Meetings, I'd like to let you know about an upcoming vote to amend the Club bylaws at our March meeting. The text of the proposed changes is at the end of this message.
In January, the Board voted unanimously to support a proposed amendment to the Sooner Model A bylaws that would add Web and Social Media Officer as a Board position. Currently that position is a standing committee, which does no...Read Full Post »

Thank you to everybody who participated in our wildly successful January Model A Inspection Day. We inspected and made small repairs to multiple cars. We enjoyed breakfast and lunch together as well.
Because most of our cars can’t go a year between safety checks, we are planning to host a second Inspection Day later in the year. Details to come!
We had a great turnout for our first Sunday club meeting. We hope the new meeting time works better with everybody’s schedu...Read Full Post »

Happy 2019! There will be a lot of great changes this year in the Sooner Model A Club, and I’ve set several goals for the Club that you can help me achieve.
First up, don’t forget that our regular meeting time has been changed to the second Sunday of every month at 2:30 p.m. at Will Rogers Garden Center. The first meeting of the year is Tuesday, January 13 at 2:30 p.m.
We hope this move will encourage more members to bring their Model A to the meetings (with short dri...Read Full Post »

Model A Friends,
The fall tour began in the rain this year. I was able to road test my rebuilt vacuum wiper on the way to Pauls Valley. Vicky couldn’t stop laughing at the antics of the little wiper blade as it wiped at incredible speed, then slowed, then stopped and then wiped at incredible speed. I looked anxiously at the headliner in the fordor for leaks, but it stayed dry. It appears that my resealing efforts worked, at least for the time being. The worst thing about drivi...Read Full Post »

Model A Friends,
September turned out to be an enjoyable month for us Model A own-ers. The temperature moderated so that our drives were comfortable and we had fun things to drive to. Our first drive was from our home north of Edmond to Mustang for the annual Western Days Parade. We found the line-up point when we spotted Will Langford’s red coupe. Jon and Ruth Adams were also there in a Fordor. We were soon joined by Don and Marilyn Mitchell and Phil Wolfenbarger and Kaye Sage. C...Read Full Post »

Model A Friends,
August 15 Vicky and I drove to the Round Barn in Arcadia. The clouds were dark and it appeared that a deluge of rain could start anytime. Since the weather was threatening there were only four cars from our club and two cars from the Okie Club. The crowd was not large, but there were many folks interested in our cars. I spoke at length to several people who wished they had a Model A. The main event at the barn was a group of musicians playing old-time music. The a...Read Full Post »

Model A Friends,
We really had some hot weather in mid July with temperatures up to 114, but the temperatures have moderated at the end of July. This means that good Model A driving is at hand. Vicky and I have been keeping our cars busy the last few days.
We had a good turnout for our annual Ice Cream Social. If you were not there you missed some delicious ice cream, cake and other goodies. Don’t forget that we will have our annual watermelon feast during our general mee...Read Full Post »
