President's Message For June

Posted by Editor on June 3, 2016 at 10:50 AM Comments comments (1)

June is here and that means a couple of national events. The Texas tour kicks off June 9th - 12th followed by the Regional tour in Longmont June 19-24th. Both of these will be outstanding events. Several Sooners will be attending these events.

We kick off the month with a Flash Drive to Shawnee and Tecumseh on the 4th of June. New club member Joe Inda has invited us to tour his car collection in Tecumseh, Ok.. If are planning to make the trip please let Phil know so we can get a count. You can find the event details in the event calendar and the Scuttlebutt. Our regular club meeting will follow on the 21st. With all of the regional tours we don't have any other outings scheduled for the rest of June.

It was a real treat to have Bob Bordwine back for May's meeting demonstration on generators.I never fail to learn something new during one of his technical demonstrations. While a lot of cars run modern alternators many cars still use the stock generator and a refresher course is always appreciated.

A new Photo Album has been added to the website with pictures from the 2006 Regional Meet here in Oklahoma City. I am sure you will enjoy seeing some old and familiar faces.

Rusty and Gerry Swain were also at last months meeting. Rusty continues to recover from his broken hip. Bill Jenkins continues his therapy related to his fibrosis. If there are other member concerns please let Katie Ownens know. Let's continue to keep these folks in our thoughts and prayers.

Looking forward to seeing you on the road,

Will Langford

They have great Fried Chicken and burgers. We also have a picnic scheduled for the 21st at Veterans Park 1900 SE 4th in Moore. Club will be cooking hamburgers and hotdogs. Please bring a side dish to share and your lawn chairs. We need volunteers to help with the setup and cooking. Regular club meeting on the 17th at Will Rogers.

Hope to see you in your A!

It's easy to tell that spring has full sprung and summer is not far behind. One need only look at all of the budding trees and flowers to see that it's that time of year. We have two great events this month beginning with the combined Spring Tour with the Tulsa Model A Club. A complete itenerary is available here on the site on the right side menu.

Next on the list is the annual Guthrie 89'er parade. This kicks off with line up in Guthrie at 10 on the 23rd. with the parade getting under way at 12. Afterward is there is enough interest we will gather for lunch. More details in the Scuttlebutt.

Regular club meeting on the 19th back at Will Rogers. We had a great turn out for the Sunday meeting in March and hope to do more of them.

See you on the road.

I can't remember when March arrived with such nice weather. We kicked off the month with our first outing driving to Eishcens in Okarche and then on to El Reno. 13 cars made there way up NW Highway and then back home on Rt.66. You can find pictures on Facebook and here on the website in the Photo Galleries.

The annual St Patricks Day Parade kicks off Saturday March 12th. Line up begins at 9:30 and the parade begins at 11. Line up will be near the Chesapeake Arena as it was last year.

Don't forget our special Sunday Meeting on the 13th. at 2PM. We are hoping that more folks will be able to drive their cars during the day. The meeting will be at 6718 NW 50th at Bill Harris's garage. We are short on chairs so please bring a lawn chair .

The annual Chickasha Pre-War Swap Meet is the next week.

We have a busy month ahead of us and we hope to see you on the road.

February President's Message

If you weren't there for the annual inspection day you missed a great time. We changed a couple of sets of gas gauge gaskets. Adjusted brakes on a couple of more cars. Changed out an ammmeter that shorted out while it was there and taught some valuabe Model A lessons. I think we that have had our cars for a while forget what it was like when we first got our cars. Even just learning the proper way to adjust the "GAV" or the gas adjustment valve is a valuable lesson. Mark your calendar for next year and plan on making the event.

We have our annual lunch with the Okie A Club in Jones on the 13th. You can find the details in last month's Scuttlebutt or from the event calendar on the website. Bring chili, side dish or dessert and enjoy the day.

I would as for continued thoughts and prayers for Bob and Joan Bordwine as Bob continues the radiation and chemo for his cancer. If you know of other club concerns please let Katie Owens know.

Looking forward to seeing you on the road.

I would just like to take this opportunity to say a special word of thanks to all of those who have helped make this another great year for our club.

Behind the scenes people like Jon Russell who before each and every meeting gets there early to setup the refreshments and tables for the meeting. Dewayne and Katie Owens who take care of the Membership and Sunshine committees. Don Mitchell and Bill Harris who head up the touring commitee the keep up with all the hats and caps and special orders. November President's Message

Posted by Editor on November 5, 2015 at 9:20 AM Comments comments (0)

If Halloween is over that means the holiday season is upon us. With these warm temperatures it's hard to tell its only 7 weeks till Christmas.

10 Cars lined up for the Red Ribbon Parade in Moore. For the first time that I can remember we had 2 pickups in the parade. Greg and Phil each brought their 1929 Pickups. Thanks to all who attended this great parade for a great cause.

If it's November that means the annual Beans and Cornbread Social at this month's meeting. I know it's hard to tell sometimes if we love food more than we love these old Ford's but this event is not to be missed. Thank's to all that signed up to bring beans and cornbread. Bring a dessert or side dish to share if you can.

If you are planning to attend this years Christmas dinner get your money into Carla Newton as seats are going fast.

We have scheduled a trip to Blanchard for their Veterans Day Parade on the 12th. More details will be in the Scuttlebutt.

See you on the road,

Will Langford

October President's Message

Posted by Editor on October 6, 2015 at 11:30 AM Comments comments (0)

Well fall is upon us which is some of the best Model A driving weather of the year. October brings us the annual fall tour with the Tulsa Model A Club and this year we are going to Joplin. At last count there were over 35 cars committed to the tour from both clubs. I encourage those that haven't made a tour event to stretch your wings and let yourself enjoy a very special event.

October also brings us the long running Red Ribbon Parade in Moore. Bob and Joan have been hosting this parade for years. This years parade is on the 24th with a morning breakfast at Braums at 101 SW 19th street. Lineup for the parade is on 5th street  between I35 and Broadway.

Looking forward to seeing you on the road.

Will Langford
