In a special meeting of the MAFCA Board of Directors this morning it was decided to cancel this year’s National Awards Banquet. Installation of officers will be held in MAFCA’s La Habra office instead. The reasons for this action include the unknowns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, risks of air travel, and health of our members.
Cowtown A’s in Fort Worth have agreed to host the event in 2021. By then we all hope this world-wide medical tragedy will be in our rear-view mirror.

Due to the unknown situation with the Corona virus, with the imposed travel restrictions and the limited opportunities for the planning preparations, the May 14-17 tour has been cancelled. Your deposit checks will be totally refunded. We sincerely regret this decision but believe it is the best decision.
Please contact Ken Brust with any questions. Thank you for your understanding. Please stay well.

Club members —
With concerns over COVID-19, or Coronavirus, sweeping the nation, the Board has determined that the best course of action is to cancel or postpone all Sooner Model A Club events between now and the end of April. With the Model A Club of America cancelling events into June, we think it is prudent to clear our calendar. We will keep our website and Facebook pages updated with any news and information as it becomes available.
For your general protection, we encourage you to follow the Center for Disease Control guidelines in limiting your exposure to large groups. CDC encourages you to limit your exposure to groups of more than 10, and wash your hands regularly with soap and water. This is not just about you, it’s is about all of us. Together we will beat this virus! At the April board meeting we will revisit the situation and determine if we need to extend the cancellations based on the current conditions.
Events cancelled or postponed as of 03/20/20:
Pre-War Swap Meet (March 20-21)
Lunch and Mystery Drive (March 28)
Coffee and Cars (April 4)
Board Meeting (WILL TAKE PLACE BY PHONE) (April 7)
Club Meeting (March 12)
Guthrie 89er Parade (April 18)
Lunch and Mystery Drive (April 25)
Pate Swap Meet (April 30-May 2)
However, these cancellations don’t mean you can’t get out and enjoy the spring weather in your Model A. In fact, I put 50 miles on my car Thursday afternoon. (Phil and Will have assured me they will still come fix my car when I break it!)
If you do venture out during the voluntary quarantine, limit your stops, keep 6 feet of distance from folks you encounter, bring hand sanitizer with you and wash your hands regularly.
With the community on edge these days, driving your Model A will bring a smile to people you pass, and you’ll get even more "thumbs up" than usual. Remember, every trip in a Model A — however mundane — is like being in your own mini parade.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. I look forward to seeing you all once virus concerns improve!

Sooner Model A Club
