Greatings Sooner Model A’ers...
It has been awhile since the club last met. Club activities have been on hold for the last 45 days. There was no March meeting (Sorry if you went to our meeting place, only to find it empty)
As I write this we have completed the 2022 Spring Tour. Don Mitchell and Chuck Dusenbery did a great job organizing the tour. On the drive we had no major mechanical issues with any of the cars (to my knowledge). So 90 year old A’s can be dependable!
It was impressive to see over 20 A’s lined up each morning as we prepared to head out to the various stops.
The Salt Mine tour was fascinating. Amazing to see what can be done 600+ feet underground. The Space Museum was a hit for me. I really liked getting to see the SR-71 on display in the museum lobby.
The Yoder lunch stop on Saturday was a hit. The free piece of pie for dessert was an added treat.
Sheryl Hoyle emceed the Saturday evening entertainment and judging by all the laughter and banter, everyone had a good time.
So where are we today? In the interim the board has asked me to assume the office of president. This leaves two board vacancies; vice president and one director. If you have a desire to serve we will find a place for you.
A couple of weeks ago we received our congratulatory letter and certificate from MAFCA acknowledging the club’s 55th anniversary as a MAFCA chartered club. This is quite an accomplishment. We’ll get that put in the display case.
Please make every effort to attend the April meeting. We will reintroduce the current board and give you an opportunity to provide any feedback. Also we will bring everyone up to date with the activity calendar for the next month or so. We will need volunteers to help with our activities.
I hope to implement some adjustments to the meeting format to allow more of a focus on why we gather together; Model A Fords.
Enjoying life in the slow lane,
