Model A Friends,
We have certainly had our fair share of winter weather recently. It was so bad that we postponed our February 20 meeting until February 27. Will Langford worked very hard to get the news out to everyone. He sent out an email and he sent a robo-call to the membership. The robo-call is something new and before he could send it he spent several hours entering phone numbers into the data base required for the robo-call. Our apologies if you didn’t get the word, but it wasn’t through lack of effort.
We had 20 people make the drive to Guthrie to visit the Territorial Museum, Saturday February 24. It was raining that morning so only modern cars made the trip. After visiting the museum we drove to Mulhall for lunch at Lucille’s. Lucille Mulhall was Zack Mulhall’s daughter and some say she was the first cowgirl. She could ride and rope and even steer wrestle and she is very attractive in her photo. The drive to Mulhall from Guthrie is scenic with several curves as it follows Skeleton Creek. We should schedule another drive from Guthrie so we can take the Model A’s.
Let’s hope that the cold weather and ice abate so we can enjoy our cars in March. Remember that the Tulsa Model A Club has planned our spring tour for March 23-25. We will be going to Elk City to tour the Route 66 Museum. Some members are planning to stop at Roman Nose State Park near Watonga for lunch. Others plan a side trip to Weatherford to tour the Stafford Air and Space Museum. If you don’t think your Model A is up to a long trip, drive your modern car. The main thing is to join the fun by participating in our club activities.
Hope to see you on the road soon,
Jim Yates, 2018 president.
