Model A Friends,
You can tell it’s July by the 90-100 degree temperatures. But you can still get old Betsy out for a fun drive even if you don’t have air conditioning in your car. Vicky and I drive early in the morning or late in the evening. The temperature is still high in the evening, but without direct sunlight it doesn’t seem so hot. So roll the windows down and open the windshield, take along something cold to drink and go driving.
July is our most important month for parades. It’s the month we celebrate the independence of our wonderful country. Next to Christmas July 4 is my favorite holiday. We participated in both the Bethany parade and the Edmond parade this year. Double participation thins our numbers in the two parades, but some our members would not participate because of the distance to drive to the parade if there was only one.
July is one of my favorite months because of the annual ice cream social. The ice cream social will be the main item on the agenda at our meeting, July 17. A sign-up sheet was passed around at the June meeting and we may have enough ice cream for everyone. However, that doesn’t mean that others not on the sheet need not bring something. It could be cake, cookies, or ice cream. Anything is welcome.
The July board meeting is postponed to July 10 because of the holiday. The board will be considering more activities for the summer months. Remember all members are welcome at the board meeting so if you would like to suggest an activity you can bring it to the board meeting or just call one of the board members.
I hope to see you on the road in your Model A!
Jim Yates, President, 2018.
