Model A Friends,
August 15 Vicky and I drove to the Round Barn in Arcadia. The clouds were dark and it appeared that a deluge of rain could start anytime. Since the weather was threatening there were only four cars from our club and two cars from the Okie Club. The crowd was not large, but there were many folks interested in our cars. I spoke at length to several people who wished they had a Model A. The main event at the barn was a group of musicians playing old-time music. The admission was free and we enjoyed the music. I understand this is to be a monthly event every second Sunday of the month. About two hours after we arrived the rain started falling. It appeared on radar that heavier rain was on the way so Vicky and I headed home. It was raining hard enough that we had to use our new vacuum wiper. Vicky just about died laughing as she watched the little wiper’s spastic movements. Sometimes it was fast, then slow and then stopped.
There is a fun event coming up September 15 at the Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport. It is their annual Airport Day. I understand there will be at least one WW2 bomber on display as well as other airplanes. Members of the Experimental Aircraft Association will be taking youngsters on Young Eagles flights. The flights are free for the youngsters plus they get a certificate and their names will be posted on the Young Eagles website. Our club has been invited to display our Model A’s. Let’s meet at the Braum’s at 15th and I35 in Edmond at 7:30 for breakfast. We will start the drive to Guthrie at 8:00 so we can arrive at the airport at 8:30. If you can’t meet at Braum’s, then plan to arrive at the airport sometime after 8:30.
I hope to see you on the road in your Model A!
Jim Yates, 2018 President.
