Model A Friends,
September turned out to be an enjoyable month for us Model A own-ers. The temperature moderated so that our drives were comfortable and we had fun things to drive to. Our first drive was from our home north of Edmond to Mustang for the annual Western Days Parade. We found the line-up point when we spotted Will Langford’s red coupe. Jon and Ruth Adams were also there in a Fordor. We were soon joined by Don and Marilyn Mitchell and Phil Wolfenbarger and Kaye Sage. Carma Jenkins rode with the Mitchells. I enjoy every-thing about a parade. I enjoy talking to everyone during the line-up. I enjoy the parade especially the small children’s faces as we drive by. The kids are so young I don’t think they have any idea these are old cars, but they know the cars are really different and also beauti-ful. I also enjoy lunch after the parade for the fellowship with the other club members. If you haven’t participated in a parade you don’t know what you are missing. Keep an eye on the Scuttlebutt for the date of the next parade.
The next drive was short for Vicky and me. We met at Braum’s in Edmond and drove to the Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport. Our turnout was disappointing since we only had two cars, Will and Hunter Langford in the red coupe and Vicky and I in our 29 roadster. The weather was good and the show at Guthrie was also good. There were helicopter rides and members of the Experimental Aircraft As-sociation were giving free airplane rides. They were called Young Eagles rides and were meant to stimulate interest in aviation. Hunter got a ride and really enjoyed it. His pilot let him take the controls and fly the plane.
There are fun things coming up in October. The highlight will be the Fall Tour. We already have at least 26 cars signed up. Looking at the itinerary that Chuck Dusenbery and Don Mitchell have planned this will be another great tour. Check the info in this Scuttlebutt is-sue for details.
I hope to see you on the road in your Model A!
